Wärtsilä has developed a new water lubricated seal, Enviroguard SLR, which provides cost-effective reliability for small workboats.
Available in nine standard sizes that suit 75mm-306mm of shaft size, the new seal is expected to provide more reliability to smaller workboats, fishing boats, motorised barges, and super yachts.
The Wärtsilä Enviroguard SLR seal is also designed to survive large shaft movements and to tolerate aggressive waters that are heavy with silt or sand.
“In addition to availability, the new design offers other major benefits to workboat owners.”
Additionally, the seal’s water lubrication ensures zero risk of polluting the marine environment.
Enviroguard SLR features marine-grade composite, making the product lightweight, corrosion-free and inexpensive.
Wärtsilä Seals and Bearings inland waterways and coastal sales manager Simon Kill said: “In addition to availability, the new design offers other major benefits to workboat owners.
“It was critical in the development process that we understood the needs of the customers in order to design a product that meets their requirements and withstands their operating environments.
“We wanted to provide workboats with a pollution-free seal that is cost-effective as well as easy to install and service, and we have backed all this up with a five year warranty.”
In September, Wärtsilä launched its new modularised load resistor, Jovyload Concept, which can be used in both marine and energy sectors.
Developed in modular kit format, the new resistor is suitable to test generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and other sources of electrical power.
