New checklist for safety inspections of Liberian ships

Liberia Maritime Authority has published a marine notice with an update to safety inspections of Liberian ships.

The update now includes an annex with a separate form for additional checklist to be used for passenger ships only. The notice was published 30 September and supersedes Marine Notice INS-001, dated 05/24.

The checklist for passenger ships contains 14 parts with questions focusing on:
• Part A. Flag state inspection designated shipboard officer
• Part B. Emergency fire squad
• Part C. Accommodations
• Part D. Means of escape
• Part E. Muster list/emergency cards/ fire control plans and booklets
• Part F. Lifejackets/TPA’s immersion suites
• Part G. Fire protection, fire detection, extinguishing systems & fittings
• Part H. Water-tight, weather tight, shell doors, portholes and fire screen doors in main vertical zones and stairways
• Part I. Ventilation systems, sounding pipes and tank ventilation
• Part J. Emergency generator (EG) & additional emergency (AEG) generator (if fitted on board)
• Part K. General housekeeping
• Part L. Lifeboats/liferafts/rescue boats/tender boats/recovery of persons from water
• Part M. Practice musters/drills
• Part N. On-board training and instructions
