IIMS LYSCWG Scotland training event details announced

Once again, IIMS is pleased to announce the dates for its annual Large Yacht & Small Craft Working Group two day training event in Scotland. The event will take place on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 November and is a mix of presentations and practical work. The venue is the well-appointed Inchinnan Cruising Club on the outskirts of Glasgow and adjacent to the airport. The nearest accommodation is The Normandy Hotel, which is within 200 metres of the Club. A group dinner will be arranged for the Monday evening.

Monday 6 November
09.30 – Welcome. Meet and greet. Registration. Quick survey.
10.00 – Mike Schwarz: IIMS Update
11.00 – Coffee Break
11.30 – Practical session: Valuations in a depreciating market with older boats
12.30 – Lunch
13.30 – Feedback from the valuation session. What was the outcome?
14.00 – Clipper 60: Coding surveyor’s view
14.30 – Clipper 60: Mid Atlantic rescue – a skipper’s view
16.00 – Review survey answers
19.00 – Dinner at a nearby venue (at own cost)

Tuesday 7 November
09.30 – Welcome
10.00 – Rigging inspection and reports. Mast and Rigging or Fairly Riggers, a practical session in the yard
11.00 – Review of rigging inspections, particularly older masts
11.30 – Paul Winter (Winter & Co) – PI Insurance and how to avoid claims
12.30 -Lunch
13.00 – MCA: A compliance officer’s view. Alan Marsh the local compliance officer has been invited to present
14.30 – CA Update/Practical session (cat 0/1) by Fraser Noble
16.30 – Review of the two days and wrap-up

The cost of the two day event is £100 (non IIMS members £110). 5 CPD points are awarded to those who attend.
