Recently published, the CHIRP Annual Digest 2023 is the ninth edition to be released by CHIRP Maritime. The publication covers the reports and cases that were published during 2023 along with additional articles on safety topics.
The Digest extends to 78 pages and celebrates CHIRP Maritime’s 20th anniversary. The publication presents a collection of safety-focused incident reports and insightful articles derived from real-life experiences in the maritime industry. The Digest is organized into themed sections, providing readers the flexibility to explore topics of interest.
CHIRP Maritime provides a mechanism for anonymously reporting hazardous situations that can be assessed and analyzed. Afterwards, recommendations are presented for the greater good of maritime safety. Each anonymous report plays its part in raising awareness of important safety issues and wider trends, providing lessons for seafarers and maritime leaders alike to learn from.
CHIRP Maritime Director, Adam Parnell, explained that the power of this compendium of safety-focused incident reports and in-depth ‘insight’ articles is compelling as it draws upon real-life experiences of CHIRP reporters.
Parnell also pointed out that reports span almost every part of the maritime industry and represent a broad cross-section of topical safety concerns.
Additionally, insight articles, written by experts, offer in-depth discussions on crucial safety matters. CHIRP encourages readers to study the reports, emphasizing the valuable lessons for both seafarers and shore-based staff too.
