What is claimed to be the first emission free yacht by Solarwave Yachts is nearing completion. NEDSHIP and Solarwave Yachts have announced details of their exciting new 62′ concept.

The collaborative result of the working development of NEDSHIP on zero emission 60ft (18.82m) passenger boats, plus four years of work by Michael Köhler on the power system on a smaller prototype, makes this advanced yacht concept the first real zero emission and consumption vessel.

Designed by composite specialist, Dr. Orhan Celikkol, and built by A.R.C. Yacht Antalya, Solarwave is an electric powered yacht that run by the combined power of its solar roof, battery bank, BMS system and other electronics, meaning it does not need fuel in order to cruise the world.

It features a retractable sunroof and a 6.5m tender garage on a catamaran that boasts the exclusive standards and qualities of a luxury yacht. According to the design studios, the self-sustaining hull gives owners who like to be on the ocean for long periods of time great independence, offering a low maintenance and low cost sailing option.

Solarwaves’ customisable configuration options give flexibility to each owner, enabling them to build their own yacht according to personal requirements. A diesel engine is also offered to clients who may want to speed home after a day’s cruising.

Besides the Solarwave 62’, NEDSHIP is also offering the SolarWind 64’, a retractable sail-assisted version, the Relax 72’ and the Eclipse 84’, a full tri-deck, with the same sustainable concept.
